Global Sustainability Manager

Novaya delivers globally to our mattress assembly customers latex based components (cores, toppers and pillows). We produce latex (synthetic and natural) based components from production units in Europe (but expanding into Asia & Americas). All sales are B2B to mattress assembly companies, but a good knowledge of the retail market is required to anticipate trends and consumer behaviours. We are on a path to develop natural latex based sustainable and recyclable components and own our own recycling unit where we develop new products from post industrial and post consumer latex/foam flows.

 

The Global Sustainability Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the company’s sustainability initiatives and strategies worldwide. This will be specifically linked to our product offerings based on our Moreganic Natural Latex (Latex grown in bio-diverse environment, ethically grown & harvested by local communities with zero/negative CO2 footprint). Expanding this new business line supported by the right marketing and sales campaigns will be a key task. Moreover this role involves developing and implementing programs that promote environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic performance across all our operations. The Global Sustainability Manager will work closely with various departments and stakeholders to integrate sustainability into all aspects of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Development and Implementation:
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive global sustainability strategy aligned with the company’s mission and goals.
    • Set sustainability targets and objectives, and develop plans to achieve them.
    • Monitor and report on the progress of sustainability initiatives to senior management and stakeholders.
    • Further develop and refine our Moreganic standard as part of a separate “foundation” and expand the current Morganic latex programme within the company
  2. Program Management:
    • Lead the development and implementation of sustainability programs, including energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainable sourcing.
    • Lead the further expansion of our Moreganic offering combining sales, marketing, operations, purchasing&logistics
    • Coordinate with different departments to ensure sustainability initiatives are integrated into business operations.
    • Manage sustainability projects from conception through execution, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  3. Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including employees, customers, suppliers, and community partners.
    • Collaborate with external organizations, NGOs, and government agencies to advance sustainability efforts.
    • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and forums related to sustainability.
  4. Reporting and Compliance:
    • Develop and maintain sustainability metrics and reporting systems to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant environmental regulations and standards.
    • Prepare sustainability reports for internal and external audiences, including investors and regulatory bodies.
  5. Education and Advocacy:
    • Promote a culture of sustainability within the organization through education and awareness programs.
    • Provide training and resources to employees to support sustainability initiatives.
    • Advocate for sustainable practices and policies both within the company and in the broader industry.
  6. Research and Innovation:
    • Stay informed about emerging sustainability trends, technologies, and best practices.
    • Conduct research to identify new opportunities for improving sustainability performance.
    • Foster innovation by encouraging the development of new sustainable products and processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a sustainability or corporate social responsibility role, preferably in a global or multinational company.
  • Strong understanding of sustainability principles, environmental regulations, and industry standards.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in sustainability reporting frameworks and tools (e.g., GRI, CDP, ISO 14001)
  • Multi-language (English, French as pre-requisite, Italian, Spanish or German as plus)
